Both small and large Controlled cultivation of Agardhiella subulata microplantlet suspension was successful in both externally-illuminated bubble-column and stirred-tank bioreactors. Unusual features include complete microtubule-filled tunnels through the nucleus (prophase), a nucleus-associated organelle penetrated by the outer membrane of the nuclear envelope (prophase) and a metaphase-anaphase polar region that appears in thin Agardhiella F.Schmitz, 1897 Type species: Agardhiella tenera (J.Agardh) F.Schmitz = Agardhiella subulata (C.Agardh) Kraft & M.J.Wynne Eponymy: named for Jakob Georg Agardh . Agardhiella subulata (C. Agardh) Kraft et Wynne is a commonly collected erect, terete, alternately branched, fleshy red alga that is found both intertidally and subtidally in the western Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico. A single periaxial cell is cut off from each succeeding axial cell in an orthostichous file. The Atlantic red alga Agardhiella subulata has been described to produce novel oxylipin metabolites.
